We are off to Scotland and Ireland on the fantastic Scenic ocean cruise. We will start in Edinburgh at the Port of Leith, and board the fantastic Scenic Eclipse, built to look like a private yacht. Day 1 - Wed, Sep 13th, 2024 - Edinburgh - The Port of Leith, just outside Edinburgh, is home to the Royal Yacht Britannia and is a fitting start to this Celtic and Viking voyage of discovery.
Day 2 - Thurs, Sep 14th - Aberdeen, Scotland - Aberdeen is set between the mountains and the sea and is said to be "one of the most architecturally distinctive in Europe." We will dock in the heart of the city and marvel at the stunnuing, sparkling, granite buildings and monuments shimmering in the sunlight. Choose from a variety of excursions.
Day 3 - Fri Sep 15th, Stromness, Scotland - Stromness is full of character with winding streets stretching from the shoreline to the hillside. Find hidden gems such as crafts, textiles and jewelry in the small local shops. See Skara Brae which predates Stonehenge and the pyramids of Giza.
Day 4 - Sat Sep 16th - St Kilda, Scotland - We are now in the Outer Hebrides, also known as the Western Isles - a stretch for 130 miles. We dock at the isolated archipelago (and World Heritage site) of St. Kilda. These isles hold Europe's most important seabird colony and is home to Britain's highest sea stacks (rock columns). Cruise on the Zodiac along the craggy sea cliffs and see the variety of seabirds such as gannets and puffins, or join the discovery team for a hike passing by ruins and grazing sheep for a beautiful panaroamic view of St. Kilda.
Day 5 - Sun, Sep 17th, Portree, Isle of Skye - Skye's capital. Portree, is an attractive fishing port with brightly painted houses aroung a natural harbor. It is sometimes possible to attend an evening of Scotish music and dance. The beautiful Isle of Raasay boasts the extinct volcano of Mt. Dun Caan which rises 443 meters high.
Day 6, Sun, Sep 17th, Cruising Sound of Mull, Fort William - we will cruise through this beautiful stretch of water looking at the scenery and for seals, otters and porpoises. Ft William is know for its sandy beaches, dramatic hills, castles, distilleries and is an iconic film location.
Day 7, Tues, Sep 19th, Oban, Scotland - Bill is really looking forward to this day. Oban is his favorite single malt scotch and he hopes to see the distillery. The picturesque little bay of Oban is overflowing with Victorian charm and elegance. Oban is surrounded with dramatic shores and spectacular countryside.
Day 8, Wed, 20 Sep - Portrush, Northern Ireland - Set on a peninsula stretching a mile with glorious beaches and majestic rocky edge, Portrush is know for being the Causeway Coast.
Day 9, Thurs, 21 Sept - Dublin, Ireland - Disembark and proceed to the airport for your flights home.
